Muncoordinated (sometimes written MUN Coordinated) has earned real goodwill in the Model UN community: it is free, open-source, and has removed the cost barrier to digital committee management for years. If you are choosing between it and Gavelling — also free — the decision comes down to scope and philosophy, not price. Here is the honest breakdown.
What Muncoordinated does well#
- Genuinely free and open-source. Every feature is available at no cost, and the code is public — anyone can inspect it or contribute.
- Multi-director collaboration. Several directors can manage the same committee simultaneously from a shared account.
- Persistence. Committee activity saves to the server, so day two picks up where day one ended.
- Runs in the browser. No installation for the dais.
Where the scope differs#
Muncoordinated is a committee-room tool for the dais: the directors run the software and the room watches a projection. That is a deliberate, lightweight design — and its limits are exactly where Gavelling starts:

When Muncoordinated is the better pick#
